True as God's Stars

"A loving woman finds heaven or hell on the day she is made a bride."
It's a day before February, and we all know what that means. What? Flowers, chocolates, teddy bears and all things red, fluffy, and scented. Everyone's looking for a partner, and this month would be another month for SMPs (this time, Samahan ng Malalamig ang Pebrero). Love is all around, and yesterday's Sunday service gave it a start. The preaching was from Ephesians 5:22-33, something about Wives and Husbands.

I found myself laughing along with the elders as they relate to what the pastor says about husband-wife relationships. A lot were proud that they managed to keep their relationships strong for their children, and some were also laughing, maybe together with the regrets of what they could have done.

One thing I am thankful for, though, is that my mom had always set a good example of a wife for me to follow someday (that I really, seriously, prayerfully, hope I can follow).

This morning God led me to a post in Joshua Harris' Website (if the guy's name sounds familiar to you, he is the author of the books "I kissed dating goodbye" and "Boy meets Girl", among others). This made me smile and made me rethink of my worth as a woman (it feels weird to actually call myself a "woman", really) and as a person. To the ladies out there, here's what you should ask. To the men, prepare your answers... and they ought to be all "yes". ;)

A Woman's Question
 Mary "Lena" Lathrop

Do you know you have asked for the costliest thing
Ever made by the hand above--
A woman's heart, and a woman's life
And a woman's wonderful love?

Do you know you have asked for this priceless thing
As a child might ask for a toy,
Demanding what others have died to win,
With the reckless dash of a boy?

You have written my lesson of duty out,
Man-like you have questioned me;
Now stand at the bar of my woman's soul
Until I shall question thee.

You require your mutton shall always be hot,
Your socks and your shirt be whole;
I require your heart to be true as God's stars,
And as pure as heaven your soul.

You require a cook for your mutton and beef;
I require a far better thing.
A seamstress you're wanting for socks and shirts;
I look for a man and a king.

A king for the beautiful realm called home,
And a man that the maker, God,
Shall look upon as he did the first
And say, "It is very good."

I am fair and young, but the rose will fade
From my soft, young cheek one day,
Will you love me then 'mid the falling leaves,
As you did 'mid the bloom of May?

Is your heart an ocean so strong and deep,
I may launch my all on its tide?
A loving woman finds heaven or hell
On the day she is made a bride.

I require all things that are grand and true,
All things that a man should be;

If you give all this, I would stake my life
To be all you demand of me.

If you cannot do this -- a laundress and cook
You can hire, with little to pay,
But a woman's heart and a woman's life
Are not to be won that way.

Now that's exactly what a woman is worth! And that's exactly what love is about-- giving all things that are grand and true, and being all that your partner demands of you.

So, are you willing to do all these things for the one you love?

Ikaw lang ang superhero na magliligtas sa'kin dito.

I hope that from now on I'll be posting less emo/sloppy/dramatic/whatev entries. There's more to life than just one person. Maybe he's still out saving the world (or studying hard). And if he is, so must I, in order for us to make a kick-ass team-up in the future. Hah!
MoroƱo, 2011 (Revamped)

Pwede pagbigyan nyo ako? Saglit lang ngayong gabi (teka umaga na pala). At pagbigyan nyo ako, magtatagalog muna ako. Hehe.

Miss na miss na miss na miss na kita. Sobra. Sooooobra.

Sabi rin ni Doc Ock sa Spider-Man 2, "Love should never be a secret. If you keep something as complicated as love stored up inside, it will gonna make you sick." Kaya eto na, sasabihin ko na...

Lab kita.

Something else I miss aside from YOU

DANCING.

I miss the floor, the squeaky sound of DC sneakers, the sweat, the feel of having a nice cold drink after a series of rehearsals. I miss dancing like no one's watching, and having the best time of my life moving with the music I can relate to.

More than anything, I miss doing it for My Redeemer, Savior, and King's Glory alone.

(I'm gonna put on my dancing shoes and my iPod right now. And yes, it's already 12:46 AM.)

PS. RE: Poster: Mina Loyola Tagged me on Facebook. No Culture Shock for this years DAC Week, but we hope to place an entry for this competition. I don't know if I can, heck, I have Indayog classmates already on the front line. ;) And I'm too afraid to even try a stunt! Haha. :P

Tugish-Takish

It's the Swagger, the dude just got Hotter! ;)

Meet DJ Danny, DLSU's human beatbox. I was lucky to see him perform during Coalescence 2 yesterday, and I was struck for like, five minutes as he performed his solo band performance of Drop it Like it's Hot and Replay, among others. Dude, this guy can REALLY sing. He's got an entire band in his voicebox and he can actually play them simultaneously. I remembered when I used to like a drummer and I was like "Oh, he's amazing. He can play all those stuff." Haha, I never realized it could be better, someone can actually play it with his mouth and sing along with it at the same time. (Yes, you read it right: play the drums and sing along, both coming from the same mouth.)

He was an instant crush during his performance. Then I remembered someone and how he makes the heartbeat sound with his own throat. And I realized "Kaya rin ni *#^!& yan. Waleeeeeey."

But even if he can't, it wouldn't matter. You don't need a kick-ass throat to make me fall in love. You just have to be you. ♥

Revamped

Finally, after more than a year of having the lousy brown parchment template, kcmeetsgreenlantern.blogspot.com lived up to its name again. It was a little weird to hit a link that has a super hero's name on it and be led to a brown website that looks more like a tribute website than a happy blogger's blog. Aaaaand I finally changed the site name from The Virtual Tin Box to Power-Ups and Kryptonite. Anyone with the basic knowledge of super heroes would know the reason behind the new title. The actual tin box is still with me, so no worries.
I can't exactly point out what made me decide on this revamp. Maybe it was after I watched Kick-Ass again, or because I followed the Geddem Batman, Superman, and Tony Stark (who actually replies) on Twitter. I hope that from now on I'll be posting less emo/sloppy/dramatic/whatev entries. There's more to life than just one person. Maybe he's still out saving the world (or studying hard). And if he is, so must I, in order for us to make a kick-ass team-up in the future. Hah!

PS. If you are one of those people who believe that comic books and super heroes are only for boys,... get over it. Stereotyping is punishable by Heat Vision.

Take a Break from Scholarly Books, Yo.

Remember my Christmas Wishlist? I received "Hope For the Flowers" from ate Sarj. She's an English teacher, so I already knew I was going to get this when I found out she was the one to give me an exchange gift. Hahaha. Here's my favorite part:
"You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar. What looks like you will die but what's really you will still live. Life is Changed, not taken away. Isn't that different from those who die without ever becoming butterflies?"
That, my Friends, is the best quote ever said by a caterpillar.

I went to Book Sale last week to see what useful book I can find. I came across a book filled with so much inspiration (as opposed to what I am actually looking for-- information), so much that I'd like to share it with you. Dude, what's inspiration for if you won't share it?

"Spark the Goodness in others."
Enjoy music, people... or just gazing at the stars. :)
It could have been the music of your heart.

There's a huge difference between being childish and having childlike faith.
"And suddenly, together, you've made something amazing."

And behold, I just found the words that I would live by for the next N years.

Is it trembling, or just being hyped up inside?
Always opt for the second choice.

By the way, the book was "Jim Henson's Doodle Dreams" by Jim Lewis. Yes, the guy can actually teach a lot: from ABC's and 123's with Kermit the Frog, to life's actual basics. ;)

Branding is Important, Even Superheroes Need It

Tony Stark is mean (But he made me laugh)

Bring on the Essay!

Nine out of ten students hate Modified True or False Exams. The tenth student's got a leakage.
True Story.

Modified T/F exams makes you believe that you always have a 50% chance of getting the correct answer, but then, there are endless ways to modify that evil sentence. And there's a huge possibility that your choice is not actually the one, or if it is, it's bound to be wrong somewhere in the modification process and leave you with an effed-up exam.

There's a huge difference between T/F exams and Modified T/F exams. Especially when you have an equally evil teacher who actually gave you a whole set of false sentences.

I recently had a Modified T/F exam in my Anthropology class. A sentence says "Filipinos are descendants of Malays." which, I know is false but I don't know where else would we come from (I was even tempted to answer Krypton at one point). So I took a wild guess and answered "False. Austronesians."

We weren't. And you know what else hurts? My instructor said that she'd accept the answer "Filipinos are NOT descendants of Malays."

I learned that sometimes, you don't need to complicate things and explain everything in order to be correct.

No. Seriously, I learned that I really suck at all exam types with the exception of the essay and--waitforit--multiple choice exams. I guess I have to work a little harder on the others... or else I'll be dead if I ever enter law school.

This serves as a Love Note and a Stand Against Distraction ♥

Dear Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, He's Beautiful, Love Me if You Dare, Silent Hill, Inception, Going the Distance, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Mr Nice Guy, Astro boy, She's out of my League, Sherlock Holmes, Mr and Mrs Smith, together with other movies I have downloaded from Jerick Olpindo's generous Hard Disk and additional movies that I have very much wanted to include in a Flick Fest,

I'll get back to you as soon as I get my life back. Same message goes out to you, all other distractions I may find in the online and offline world. For now, I may have to devote my time, body, soul, blood, strength, and all others I may give, to the sweet suffering that is thesis.

Bear in mind that not paying attention to you means I love you any less. To tell you the truth, you're all I wanted to be with right now.

Until then, you'll be in my dreams. HAHAHA.

With all my love,
KC

First 2011 Post

I started my 2011 by believing that you are going to be one of this year's miracles.

I still. Always will. ♥
